However, their plea raises more questions than it answers. The governors' remarks were made during a conversation at the National Governors Association summer meeting in Oklahoma City.
Stitt attributed the rise of extreme candidates to the partisan primary system, where polarizing figures tend to win out over more moderate alternatives.
